The Wisconsin Counties Association is asking the Wisconsin Supreme Court to reverse an Appeals Court's decision to allow the town of Rib Mountain to be exempt from Marathon County's readdressing project.

According to its website, the WCA provides counties with insurance programs, education, research, grant development and consulting services.

In June, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals sided with the town of Rib Mountain following town's decision to not participate in the countywide readdressing plan due to Marathon County's interpreted definition of the word "rural".

The WCA states that decision leaves many counties guessing the meaning of the word 'rural' and calls the validity of ordinances across the state into question.

The Supreme Court is expected to release its finding Feb. 14.
