UPDATE: Power interruptions in Marathon, Wausau

Power has been restored to 700 WPS customers in Wausau.

The outage was reported Wednesday morning initially with nearly 2,200 customers without service. The areas affected are mainly on the west side of Wausau, the city of Marathon, the town of Rib Mountain, the town of Stettin and the village of Maine, according to Wisconsin Public Service.

A WPS spokesperson the outage is due to an equipment failure. Crews are working to restore service to the other affected customers. As always, customers are advised not to touch any downed wires, instead call police or report the issue to WPS at 1-800-450-7240.
