3 in custody in death of Plover man

PLOVER, Wis. (WSAW) -- The Portage County Sheriff's Department says the death of a man previously reported as missing is suspicious. The body of Gary Mayek was found in his vehicle Jan. 9. Mayek was last seen in Plover around 9 p.m. Jan. 5.

During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Gary had been at a hotel on the night of Jan. 5.

According to a news release, surveillance video showed three people of interest in connection with this investigation. They've been identified by authorities as Jason Meisel, 44, Matthew Zdzieblowski, 46, and Amber Weisnicht, 24. Both Zdzieblowski and Weisnicht were taken into custody earlier this week.

The Portage County Sheriff's Office announced they were still searching for Jason Meisel on Wednesday. Thursday morning they announced that Meisel was found and arrested in Kenosha.

The investigation into Gary’s Mayek’s death continues with assistance from the Plover Police Department.

Sgt. Jason Meidl told NewsChannel 7 said a passerby noticed his truck and called their department.
