Plane crashed in lake in Forest County

At 3:50 p.m., the Forest County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center received a report of a airplane that had crashed while attempting to land on Lake Metonga in Forest County.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, along with Officers from the City of Crandon Police Dept and Wisconsin DNR.
Upon Deputies arrival to the scene, they located a airplane that was upside down in the water. The plane was designed for water landings which kept the plane a float.
The 64 year old pilot and his 16 year old passenger was able to free themselves from the plane and were assisted to safety by other boaters in the area. There were no injuries.
This is still an active crash investigation and no other information is being released at this time.
