The Oneida County detective on unpaid leave after more than $1,000 in allocated drug-buy money went missing, has agreed to the terms of a deferred judgment agreement.

Sarah Gardner [Welcenbach] is accused of taking confidential funds from 2010 to 2014. Prosecutors said the money allocated for the agency's drug unit.

A judge ruled Gardner must pay $1,200.80 for alleged shortage in drug unit cash boxes. She also must stay out of trouble for one year.

Sheriff Grady Hartman said Gardner remains on unpaid leave. The law enforcement grievance committee will make a decision on her employment during a hearing July 26-27.
