Obama cabinet member visits Wausau, meets with small business owners
One of president Obama's cabinet members is meeting with some of Wausau's small businesses owners.
It's a part of a push to highlight economic opportunities and growth across the country.
Maria Contreras-Sweet is the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She took a tour of some of the main street businesses with Mayor Robert Mielke today before hosting a round-table discussion.
"We're just fighting for small businesses at every turn, we are speaking up for them,” said Contreras-Sweet. “The president's asked me to be a voice for small business so I say to all cities, don't just shop the big deals, make sure you understand small business is a big deal. The return on investment and the reverberations to our economy are enormous."
The U.S. has seen 78 months of job growth, and the Small Business Administration is citing those businesses as the reason for that growth.
