WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -- More than a dozen people from across central Wisconsin are joining a nationwide protest calling for the protection of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
Demonstrations took place all across the country, including Wausau's 400 Block, as well as other areas in NewsChannel 7's viewing area.
Protestors chanted slogans like "Hands off Mueller" and "Nobody's above the law" before marching. They say the naming of acting attorney general Matthew Whitaker is a "deliberate attempt to obstruct the special counsel's investigation."
"We feel that we need justice, and we feel that the American people need to know what happened to our election in 2016," said one protestor, Lisa Ort-Sondergard. "And we trust that Bob Mueller is a man of integrity and is going to give us the answers we need, one way or another."
But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday there wasn't a chance that the Mueller probe would not be allowed to finish.
