Marshfield Clinic has new technology that allows doctors to make small incisions, reduce recovery time and pain.
Using a robotic-armed tool, doctors are also able to move the patient. Right now, the technology is only being used at the outpatient surgery center to remove prostates and to do hysterectomies.
Dr. Greg Tyler said, "Now, we're starting to see same-day discharges, where patients are coming in and safely going home four to six hours after their operation, comfortable and able to manage themselves in their own, the comfort of their own home."
Marshfield Clinic has two of these units. The first one was installed in November at the clinic in Marshfield.
