WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) North central Wisconsin's Skylar Witte has a chance as Miss Wisconsin USA.

The 51 ladies are getting ready to take the stage for Miss USA in Las Vegas.

Witte has been Miss Wisconsin for 8 months. She's made more than 70 appearances across the state and started a program called "Sky is the Limit," where she visits middle schools across the state to help young tweens and teens build their self confidence.

NewsChannel 7 caught up with her before she made the trip to Las Vegas.

"When it comes to preparing for Miss USA, the biggest thing I've done is learn to be my best self," Witte said. "That has been a lot of journaling and remembering my best stories. When I walk into that room and meet those strangers, I can say I'm Skylar Witte, Miss Wisconsin USA and I'm ready to be Miss USA."
