Marshfield Clinic unveils state of the art mobile breast screening unit
Marshfield Clinic is unveiling a first of its kind mobile mammography unit.
The new mobile truck is the first portable molecular breast imaging center in the world.
The technology is designed to perform breast cancer screenings for woman who have dense breast tissue.
The mobile unit will travel to clinic sites across Central and Western Wisconsin. The new technology is something physicians at Marshfield Clinic say will be a great way to serve patients.
"It's an exciting day for me and for the Marshfield Clinic and for the patients that we care for. This is a new technology being used here with the clinic for the first time in the world on a mobile unit in a screening population. So, its something we have been waiting for a long time and its nice to see it coming to fruition." says Marshfield Clinic Radiologist Dr. James Kinsella
While the new mobile unit was unveiled to Marshfield Clinic employees Tuesday, it is not expect to roll out to begin serving patients until December.
