GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY)-- The Green Bay Police Department reported Tuesday that a victim was recently scammed out of six thousand dollars.

According to police, the victim believed their computer had a virus because of a message that popped up on the screen.

The scammers first asked for the person's PayPal account, and then convinced them to go to a store and buy $6,000 worth of Google Play cards.

Police are asking the community to look for potential scam victims, especially during the holidays.

They ask that people have conversations with their families about the types of scams they hear about and spread the word. Anyone with information about the people involved in this or similar scams are urged to contact their local police.
