A couple former Green Bay Packers were in Wausau Sunday to help out with Newschannel 7's annual fundraiser and food drive, Share Your Holidays. They say it's a great opportunity to connect with fans, while helping out the local community where those fans live.

Ahman Green, a former Packers running back says he likes going to events like this.

"It good to have an event where i can actually come see them, put a smile on their face and help out in the community that they live in," says Green.

Former Packers fullback William Henderson was also that the meet and greet with fans at Malarkey's during the Packers/Bills game, and it was more than just a celebrity appearance.

"They're helping us collect funds for this great organization share your holidays, and to bring people happiness over the holiday season," says Steven Jones, General Manager for Frontier Communications, a sponsor to Share Your Holidays.

Jones says the visit by the former players during a private customer appreciation event was an opportunity to raise some big bucks for a good cause. For a donation, fans could get an autograph or a picture taken with the former Packers players.

"They're out here just helping us raise some money and its been a great event so far," says Jones.

"Taking picutres with everybody, mingling wtih them, just letting them know we're just like everyday people too," adds Green. "We just like to help out the communities we live in."

Malarkey's also helped the cause by donating proceeds from a couple special drink options. One was called the "Henderson Hand-Warmer" and the other called "Green Punch".

Thanks to Frontier Communications and Malarkeys, $1,550 was raised for Share Your Holidays.

Newschannel 7's Jeff Thelen was there to MC Sunday's event, which included a silent auction.
