FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (FOX 11) -- Emergency call centers are always looking to improve service and speed up response time. That certainly includes Fond du Lac County, which is introducing something called 'Smart911.' It helps first responders find you faster.

"What we want people to do is to create a profile and they just do so by creating a username and password and then they can enter their home information, their work information, all phone numbers that are associated with them. If they have medical information," said Director of Communications and Emergency Management Bobbi Hicken.

By entering that information in, when you call 911, it'll show up to the dispatcher. If you're outside and call 911 from your smartphone, dispatchers can use technology better to pinpoint your locations. For right now, 'Smart911' is only available in Fond du Lac County.
