East Grand Ave. project in Wisconsin Rapids delayed due to weather

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW)-- Starting on Monday, construction will begin on one of Wisconsin Rapids' busiest roads.

East Grand Ave. from 2nd Street to 8th Street will get a complete makeover.

The city's director of public works said the project is to help revitalize downtown.

"The road is 66 years old and the city has maintained it the best it could over the years. The surface has deteriorated and the underground infrastructure is also needing replacement on most of the project," explained Joe Terry, the Director of Public Works.

The resurfacing project is estimated to cost $2.6 million dollars and is funded in part by state grants.

The city will update the project's status weekly on its website.

Terry said the snowstorm set them back a week, but overall it should still be completed by November.
