The origin and cause of a fire that destroyed an airport storage hanger in Lake Tomahawk has been ruled undetermined, according to Town of Woodruff Fire Chief Mike Timmons.
The privately owned building at Dolhun Field Airport contained RV's, boats, snowmobiles, trailers and other recreational equipment. The building and everything inside is considered a total loss.
State fire marshals spent Tuesday morning investigating the scene. Timmons said there is nothing suspicious about the fire. He is making contact with all of the property owners to determine how many items were inside the building.
Emergency crews responded to the fire around 8 p.m. Monday. By the time first responders arrived, the building was engulfed.
It took the work of eight responding fire departments, including two ladder trucks, to get the blaze under control. All but one department is made up of volunteers. Due to the weather and water flow, conditions were icy but an area was set up for firefighters to keep warm. Fire crews were expected to remain on scene overnight to monitor any potential hot spots and flare ups.
