Concerts on the Square start Wednesday

More than 2,500 people are expected to attend the first the Concert on the Square event Wednesday in Wausau. The series lasts 10 weeks. The first concert of the season begins Wednesday, June 22 at 6 p.m.

The event is organized by Wausau Events. It's the 23rd year for the free concert series.

Wifee & The Huzz Band will take the stage for the first concert. The even is free and open to all ages.

Blessings in a Backpack will be conducting a food drive to help fill backpacks for the summer months. Organizers ask concert goers bring a box of macaroni and cheese or granola bars to donate.

Pets, smoking, firearms, tents, and tables are not allowed. Concert goers should bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Coolers can be bought in, but open intoxicants are not allowed off of the 400 Block.

July 27: Whiskey Belles (Roots and juke joint country) presented by American Family Insurance

August 3: Brass Differential (Big horns, R&B and pop) presented by Midwest Dental *Fill the Boot Wausau Fire Department Night*

August 10: Erin Krebs (Jazz) presented by Habush, Habush & Rottier

August 17: Dig Deep (Bluegrass) presented by Midwest Communications

August 24: Charles Walker Band (Funk, soul, R&B) presented by Compass Properties
