WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW)-- A large gathering happened Wednesday night at Wausau East.
"It's grown every year," said Joel Pataconi.
CAFE 27. CAFE standing for 'Cultural Arts Festival at East,' the 27 meaning the 27th year. Art, music, cars, plants, food. All put together by students at Wausau East.
"Just about every elective at our high school has something going on tonight," said Pataconi, the chair for the Art Department, "to just kind of showcase their department and what they offer and what their students do."
The moment you walk in the doors, you're greeted by fascinating artwork that goes from one hallway to the next.
"I've been planning for CAFE since last CAFE," said senior Austin Rosenberg. "I knew this was my last one so I wanted to go out with a bang and I knew what I wanted to do. So I started planning in summer, like in June."
A plant sale held by the Horticulture department. Tech Ed hosts its own car show. Music with performances by band, orchestra and choir. And a variety of ethnic foods with the foreign language department, the money going toward scholarship funds.
"Just to meet people," sophomore Randy Vargas said. "Be social. Show people what our school has to offer."
By the amount of people in attendance, CAFE 27 passes with flying colors.
"I was surprised by the amount of traffic coming in," added sophomore David Bautsch. "I was like, 'I can't find a parking spot anymore."
"It kind of brings the school together in a way that other events can't," Rosenberg said.
