Wisconsin Dells, Wis. (WSAW) -- A 16-year-old boy has died after police say he fell from an outdoor water slide at a resort in the Wisconsin Dells area.

The victim is being identified as Addison Williams, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

Police said the incident happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday night at Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park in Lake Delton.

Police said two brothers and a friend tried to sled down one of the outdoor water park slides. The boys scaled a 7 foot fence to get inside the locked area. Williams went down on a saucer sled and got stuck halfway down. Police said when he tried to free himself he then fell 35 feet to the ground.

"With our preliminary investigation that we did, I think Mt. Olympus did everything they could to prevent people from doing it but like I said there is personal responsibility for making that decision  at this age to enter into that park and take that risk,” explained Chief Dan Hardman, Lake Delton Police Department.

Police said the family was visiting the Dells to experience snow for the first time.

No charges will be issued in the case.
