For many, taking part in the 'Turkey Trot' on Thanksgiving morning is a tradition to kick off the holiday weekend.

"The Turkey Trot is an Eastbay Sponsored Community 5k Run/Walk that raises money for the Hunger Coalition of Marathon County, an initiative by United Way," explained organizer Benjamin Lee.

The Eastbay Turkey Trot started 9 years ago by a group of Eastbay employees that wanted to give back to their community, and since then, it has grown legs and been adopted by many employees as an important initiative that continues on.

"We keep the event simple and hassle free for our participants so that they can enjoy themselves with family & friends before heading off to their Thanksgiving gatherings," Lee said. "Refreshments are provided after the race, as well as entertainment prior to the start gun!"

Dressing up is encouraged, but Lee also encourages being warm!

The Eastbay Turkey Trot will take place on Nov. 22 2018 at Eastbay in the parking lot in Wausau.

The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. with sign ups after Nov. 8 costing $30 per person.

Registration will be available on Wednesday Nov. 21 during packet pick-up if the cap of 2,000 has not yet been reached.

Registration will not be available on the day of the race.

Race packets can be picked up at the Corporate Office. Please use the Corporate Office entrance.
