KRONENWETTER, Wis. (WSAW) More Americans than ever before are traveling for the holidays. AAA predicts 112 million people will travel more than 50 miles in December-- including 1.3 million in Wisconsin alone.

Shannon Riley, systems operations manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is urging travelers to make a plan of action before they leave.

"The best thing to do is to look at our website 511wi.gov or call 511 before you leave on your trip so you can plan what weather conditions you are going to have and you can see what the traffic conditions are going to be" he said.

Travel analysts with AAA predict said economic comfort and lower gas prices spurred the record number of people. They also expect Thursday and Friday will be the most congested days for travel.
