1 killed in semi-tractor, pickup truck crash

The driver of a pickup truck was killed early Saturday morning in Waupaca County, after crossing the centerline and crashing into a semi-tractor pulling a tractor. It happened on Highway 22, one quarter mile south of Rural Road in the Township of Dayton.

According to a press release from Waupaca County Sheriff's Office, at 2:43 a.m. Saturday morning authorities responded to a two vehicle crash involving a northbound semi-tractor and a southbound truck.

Both vehicles were on fire upon arrival of responders.

Officials said the southbound truck crossed the centerline and crashed into the northbound semi-tractor.

The operator of the semi-truck pulling the trailer was not injured. The driver of the pickup truck passed away due to injuries from the crash.

The Waupaca County Sheriff's Office, Waupaca Police Department, Waupaca Fire Department, Waupaca County Hazmat, Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupaca County Highway Department and Gold Cross Ambulance all responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and the identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification of family members.
