Emily Skye came to WSAW-TV as the Sunrise 7 Meteorologist in June 2017. She is originally from Grand Rapids, Mich., so she's looking forward to starting a new adventure while staying in the Midwest.
Emily graduated from the University of Michigan where she studied Climate and Space Science Engineering.
While in college, Emily gained broadcasting experience from interning with the weather department at WOOD TV8 in Grand Rapids, as well as working for Big Ten Network at U of M. Even though she worked for Big Ten Network, she knows very, very little about sports and spent most of her time trying to sneak weather reports into the sports broadcast. She also lived on the summit of Mount Washington, known as "The Home of the World's Worst Weather," in the summer of 2016. There, she completed an internship with Mount Washington Observatory, a nonprofit institution that works to further understanding of Earth's climate and weather. During the course of the internship, she was able to play outside in 98 mph wind gusts, take hikes to neighboring summits in the White Mountains on her lunch break, watch snow fall at the end of June, and see the Northern Lights.
When Emily isn't at work or tracking the weather outside of work, you can usually find her in the kitchen cooking up some delicious baked goods. She also enjoys hiking and running, and is eager to explore all the nature and outdoor activities Wisconsin has to offer.
