Elizabeth Wadas

Evening News Anchor/Reporter
Madison, Wisconsin
Elizabeth Wadas

Elizabeth is the lead reporter for NBC15 Investigates, and she also anchors the 9pm newscast on weekdays.

Elizabeth graduated from Indiana University’s School of Journalism back in 2015 where she did international reporting on the ground in Beijing, China.

Shortly after she started her journalism career in Rockford, Illinois, where she interned and landed her first reporting job at WREX. She then made her way to the Quad Cities where she anchored and worked on special projects in Moline, Illinois at WQAD.

She was a lead reporter during the 2016 and 2020 Iowa caucuses where she covered Hilary Clinton’s campaign (even landing a one-on-one interview with the then Democratic presidential candidate) and then Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020. Elizabeth’s diverse work covering politics to breaking news to a ‘Red Neck fishing tournament’ earned her back-to-back titles of ‘Best Reporter’ through the Illinois News Broadcasters Association.

Born and raised in Indiana, Elizabeth has lived in the Midwest all her life and wouldn’t have it any other way. And she understands living in Madison now means she has to keep her love for the Indiana Hoosiers, Chicago Bears and Cubs under wraps. When she’s not at work, you can find her jamming out to Hamilton the All-American Musical, experimenting in the kitchen with a new healthy recipe or exploring local restaurants and breweries with her standard poodle named Winnie. Winnie the Poodle, like Winnie the Pooh, get it?!

Being a voice for the voiceless is what drives her to come to work everyday. Holding officials accountable, solving problems and getting her community the answers they deserve is her passion.
