Audrey Leigh joined the NewsChannel 7 team in July of 2021 as the Sunrise 7 Meteorologist on weekdays. This is her first time living in Wisconsin after having spent the last four years in central Illinois.
Audrey is a native of Aurora, Illinois—a suburb of Chicago, and the second-most populous city in the state.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. She began her career as a broadcast meteorologist in March of 2020 at WEEK-TV and Heart of Illinois ABC in Peoria. She interned at WCIA-TV in Champaign and worked along with the weather department. She comes with storm chasing experience and has seen multiple tornadoes, storm developments in the field, and has chased tornado alley.
Her favorite experience was traveling to Argentina in 2018 to aid an international team of researchers for a global field campaign known as RELAMPAGO-CACTI, to study the world’s most intense thunderstorms, and their influence on high impact weather near the Andes mountains.
Audrey loves animals and enjoys exploring and trying new things. She enjoys skiing and is thrilled to be in a state with ski resorts. If she is not spending her time outdoors, she is likely spending her time in the kitchen trying new recipes, or cuddling with her rescue cat, Cosmic.
