Eau Claire business owner, Rebecca Cooke, announces she’ll run for 3rd Congressional District
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WSAW) - Democratic business owner and nonprofit leader Rebecca Cooke announced Wednesday she’ll run for Congress in the 3rd Congressional District. If elected, she would make history as the first female congresswoman in the 3rd Congressional District.
“Our rural communities face unique challenges, and it’s clear that Washington isn’t working for us. I’m running for Congress to better serve communities across Wisconsin, provide more opportunities for success, and be a relentless fighter for our way of life,” Cooke said.
She was raised on a dairy farm in Eau Claire and appointed by Gov. Tony Evers to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
The current 3rd Congressional Representative, Ron Kind, announced in August that after 13 terms, he would not seek another term.
