HABERSHAM CO., Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 6-year-old girl from Georgia has been found safe after an Amber Alert was issued on Sunday.

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation were trying to locate 17-year-old Estephanie Negrete-Ramirez and her sister, 6-year-old Celesta Negrete-Ramirez, WRDW reported.

On Sunday, deputies responded to the home of the girls in Demorest, Georgia. Their mother told deputies Estephanie Negrete-Ramirez had taken Celesta out shopping around 11 a.m. and had not made contact with the mother since and had not returned home.

The mother said Estephanie Negrete-Ramirez left her phone at the residence.

The two sisters had left the residence in a gold Honda Pilot and were believed to be on the way to either Commerce or Buford, Georgia.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office contacted Habersham deputies that the two sisters were found on the side of the road, not injured, in Walker County.

Officials say Celesta will be returned to the mother, and Estephanie Negrete-Ramirez is currently in custody on charges of “interference with child custody” concerning this incident.
