MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Former Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s son has joined GOP gubernatorial hopeful Rebecca Kleefisch’s campaign.
Kleefisch announced Tuesday that Alex Walker will serve as the campaign’s political director.
He has worked as Republican U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil’s campaign manager and on former Republican state Sen. Leah Vukmir’s failed U.S. Senate run.
Walker made headlines in 2017 when he was caught using a state van to move a friend into a Madison apartment. He reimbursed the state $25.
Kleefisch’s campaign also announced that she had resumed her in-person campaigning on Monday after a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. She completed her 10-day quarantine and has received a negative COVID-19 test, her campaign stated.
“I am so thankful for the outpouring of support and prayers that I received from friends across Wisconsin last week,” said Kleeish. “The virtual world that we now live in allowed us to lose no ground during my COVID diagnosis, and I’m greatly looking forward to getting back out on the campaign trail to share my vision for a stronger Wisconsin.”
