Alleged driver in pursuit reaches speeds of 80 mph causing property damage

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - A 38-year-old Stevens Point man is facing numerous charges following allegations he led police on 7-mile chase through a residential neighborhood.

Police initiated a traffic stop around 8:30 a.m. near the 1300 block of Division Street for a vehicle that was driving 50 mph. The driver, later identified by police as Anthony Andrae did not stop.

A second pursuit ensued in Plover. This time police said Andrae drove through backyards and construction zones. Police said he damaged his vehicle and many yards and landscaping. Police said at times, the driver reached speeds of 80 mph.

He then turned into an apartment complex, stopped and ran away from the car. He was arrested by police.
