WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - Marathon County officials are warning the public about a park employee imposter demanding money.

According to a post from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, an individual has been reported to be posing as a Parks Department Employee. They say the person then demands $50 is paid directly to him, by those who failed to pay the boat launch permit.

All Parks Department Employees drive official county vehicles and will NOT demand money directly.

If an individual approaches you and demands payment, do not make payment, and contact the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at 715-261-1200.
