WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - There will be a few thunderstorms possible tonight across the Northwoods, with a better chance for some stronger storms area-wide Thursday evening and Friday evening, as a strong cold front approaches Wisconsin by the end of the week. NewsChannel 7′s First Alert Weather Team *may* still issue a First Alert Weather Day for Friday afternoon and evening, due to the threat for severe thunderstorms. The other big story is the heat! And the heat will continue. Thursday and Friday temps will be in the upper 80s/low90s.

Wind gusts could hit 60 mph Thursday night with the strongest storms.

While the weekend will start off with a few showers and clouds early Saturday morning, skies will clear throughout the day and for the rest of the weekend with plenty of sunshine by Sunday. Expect a small cool down in temperatures and humidity values for the weekend, as highs drop back into the lower 80s.

The warm and toasty weather may return later next week, but expect relatively comfortable humidity values Sunday throughout next Wednesday.
