GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAW) - Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari is working his way back from a torn ACL. The offensive lineman has had to battle through the struggles of being off the field.

The long road to recovery started the day after David Bakhtiari’s surgery in January. The offensive lineman is in good spirits.

“I got no problem saying that I will be ready for training camp...in 2022,” said Bakhtiari.

As for the actual timetable Bakhtiari set.

“I have no idea,” said Bakhtiari. “This is my first time going through this. I’m just gonna attack every day. Try to hit every benchmark I can.”

A complete 180 from the attitude the offensive lineman had back in January.

“First 36 hours are probably the worst,” said Bakhtiari. “How I looked at it and how I described it to my closest family and friends was I got this long road I gotta go down. I don’t want to go down it, but I have to.”

The emotional rollercoaster is currently at mandatory minicamp. Bakhtiari is forced to take on a new form of leadership.

“It’s stressing me to really work on how I can express myself with my voice and with my language to describe a certain act or movement they need to do instead of showing them with my...moving around myself,” said Bakhtiari.

Bakhtiari also added that he’s relied on former teammate Bryan Bulaga through the process. Bulaga has torn two ACLs during his career.
