(AP) - During the Wisconsin Democratic State Convention, democrats focused on Gov. Tony Evers’ re-election campaign along with the importance of beating republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson in 2022. Johnson has yet to say whether he will seek a third term.

The five announced democratic candidates vying to take on Johnson speak at the convention at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 6.

This race along with the office of the governor are two high-profile races that will once again put Wisconsin in the national spotlight. President Joe Biden spoke about protecting the right to vote in a recorded video for the convention.

“Nothing is more sacred in this country than the right to vote. You’ve done incredible work, but we can’t let up now, you and the work you do are the heart of democracy, our democracy. Our democracy has never needed you more than it needs you now,” Biden said. Biden also went on to discuss the success of vaccinations and efforts to get America out of the pandemic.

He said the American jobs plan is about rebuilding roads, highways and bridges, clean water, universal broadband and tax relief for families.
