The weather has been warming up in the Wausau area, so much so that they closed Granite Peak Ski Resort this week.

Sunrise 7 reporter Britney Shiflet spoke with ski lift operator Brandon Marquardt to see if the sudden weather shift has affected the resort's business at all.

He said that they closed the lifts to let the machines pile on the snow for the runs to reopen this weekend. He also added that this is an annual trend they experience. Every year in late March they get a warm spree like this.

The runs will be open till April 8th, but even at that point the resort will stay busy at work prepping for the next season. Marquardt admitted the fall lift that opens later this year in September is a big hit that they spend months grooming and preparing the mountain for. Other events held at the chalets also keep the ground crews busy throughout all the seasons.

So if you're one of the people who stopped in this week to shred on the slopes and were shot down because they're closed, fear not; check back this Saturday and Sunday where the runs will be ready to go.
