Wis. Rapids Man Collecting Items for superstorm Sandy Victims

A Wisconsin Rapids man whose mother lost her home in superstorm Sandy is organizing a donation drive for items needed by the residents of Staten Island in New York.

Donations are being accepted at the parking lot of the former Brostom Motors, 2660 Eighth St. S. in Wisconsin Rapids until the trailer is full.

Talking with churches in Staten Island, John Zagorianakos said there are things people need, such as nonperishable foods, gloves, cleaning supplies, shoes and boots, clothing, garbage bags and water. Clothing and shoes can be new or used.

The truck will be driven to Staten Island and the donations will be distributed at the Moravian Church and St. Mary’s Church.

Zagorianakos is also asking for donations to cover the cost of fuel to transport the tractor trailer to Staten Island.
