SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) -- Deer hunters in northwestern Wisconsin could get a lot more than light tracking snow for the gun season opener.
Heavy snow could cause hazardous travel, restrict hunters' vision and keep deer from moving about on Saturday. The National Weather Service says there's nearly a 100 percent chance of snow during the day Saturday, with two to six inches in some areas of northwestern Wisconsin. The Duluth News Tribune says temperatures should be in the mid-20s as dawn breaks with readings climbing to near 30 later in the day.
More than 600,000 people are expected to hunt during the gun season in Wisconsin from Saturday to Nov. 27.
