Snow is expected in north central Wisconsin through the evening. Wausau Public Works responded earlier in the day to accumulations of snow and ice. However, most of the snow is expected after midnight -- around 2 or 3 a.m.
"People should slow down and try to avoid any really steep hills until it looks like we've been there," said Ric Mohelnitzky, Supervisor of Public Works.
Mohelnitzky added that it's important for people to slow down and give plows enough room on roads because they have bigger blindspots than normal vehicles. He expects plows to move through the area once after the main accumulation of snow, but plows will move through again as needed.
Main roads will be maintained as much as possible for emergency vehicles. Snow is expected to taper off Sunday morning.
