The National Weather Service reports a tornado that touched down Tuesday evening in Chili has been rated and EF-2.
Winds are estimated at 120- 130 mph. The average width is estimated to be 200 yards.
The tornado touched down just after 5 p.m., seven miles northwest of Chili near the intersection of Bobwhite Road and Romadka Avenue.
It traveled 7.2 miles in an east-southeastward direction before ending.
Dan Baumgardt, one of 2 National Weather Service Meteorologists who visited the storm site tells Newschannel 7, the longer the tornado stays on the ground, the more potential there is for damage.
"It has a better chance to injure people and do damage. It was not a short tornado, it's not one of those that just skips all about", said Baumgardt.
