MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin officials say the recent spell of warm dry weather might be great for picnicking, but it's increasing fire risks in drier parts of the state.

The Department of Natural Resources says many parts of Wisconsin have been in the 70s. With rainfall at less than quarter of an inch in some places, some vegetation is more golden than green.

Fire danger levels have been elevated to moderate through much of the state. There have been several small grass fires in Marinette County, although rain is in the forecast.

The dryness has also caused some rivers to run low. That includes the Bois Brule River in Douglas County, in the northwestern corner of the state.

On the plus side, the weather has caused widespread blooming of summer flowers.
