MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Temperatures in Wisconsin have been mostly cooler than normal so far this season but Wisconsin Emergency Management has advice — think uncomfortable, blast furnace-like hot.

The governor has proclaimed Thursday as "heat awareness day" in a campaign to remind people of the dangers of extreme heat and educate citizens how to take protective measures.

Organizers say summer heat waves are the biggest weather-related killer in Wisconsin, far exceeding tornadoes and severe storms.

Wisconsin Emergency Management says in 1995 two hot spells caused 154 heat-related deaths and more than 300 heat-related injuries.

Two tips to remember: Never leave children, disabled people or pets in a parked car and wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing in hot weather.

the governor "proclaims" a lot of things. this one, "heat awareness day", is as ironic as his speeding tickets and his multiple monetary benefits from deceased people.
