No major reporting stations across Northcentral Wisconsin have reached 90 degrees this summer, according to the National Weather Service office in Green Bay. One possible reason may be due to heavy rainfall late this spring and early summer.
The NWS says the excessive rain nearly saturated sub soils. On sunny, warm days, deep soil moisture evaporates more easily. Since evaporation is a cooling process, temperatures had a more difficult time surpassing the mid 80s.
