WISCONSIN (AP) -- If the weather made sense around here, this wouldn't be Wisconsin.

For most of the state, the long and brutal winter is over. But residents in central Wisconsin are expected get one more fleeting taste of snowfall Monday morning.

National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Franks says central and west-central areas of the state will get an inch or two of snow throughout early Monday afternoon.

He says it will probably be more of a rain-snow mix. That, combined with warm ground temperatures, means the snow won't stick around for long.

Still, just the sight of snowflakes could depress Wisconsin residents eager for days of bright blue skies and warm sunshine. But Franks says the cycles of cooler temperatures do seem to be winding down.
