PORTAGE, Wis. (AP) -- A clash of weather systems set off storms across Wisconsin late Friday that included a reported tornado near Portage, along with hail and heavy rains in many areas.
The National Weather Service says trained weather spotters reported the tornado east of Portage in Columbia County, about 30 miles north of Madison, and other reports showed it was sweeping northeastward to Green Lake and Fond du Lac counties.
Larry Reed of Wisconsin Emergency Management says reports of damage included "a couple of homes in Columbia County," but no injuries have been reported.
He says his office is contacting officials in the other storm areas to see if they have damage.
Forecasters say the the storm front moving eastward through the state would be followed by much colder air and blustery winds.
