WHITE LAKE, Wis. (AP) -- It was a good weekend at the Bear Paw Outdoor Adventure Resort on the Wolf River near White Lake.

That's because the resort reopened this weekend for the first time since a June 7, 2007 tornado caused more than $1 million in damage.

Co-owner Jamee Peters says they are thrilled seeing people coming back to Bear Paw.

The storm was an EF-3 tornado that tore a 40-mile long path through Shawano, Menominee, Langlade and Oconto counties.

The worst damage was at Bear Paw, where the 25-acre resort with 10 buildings that included cabins, a restaurant and store was badly damaged.

One kayak was thrown more than 30 feet into the remnants of pine trees.

The kayak tree is a memorial to what happened at the Bear Paw Resort.

Peters says they plan to have a grand reopening on the one-year anniversary of the storm.
