The spring-like weather we've seen this week may have you thinking about your garden. And local florists say all the snow we saw this winter could be a good thing.
They say the ground may stay colder longer this spring, and it's too early to start planting many more delicate plants and flowers.
But even April snow showers can bring May flowers. "With the snow, you're actually getting a natural nitrogen from the snow”, said Kent Spiegel, Owner of Rib Mountain Greenhouse. “Not that we haven't needed the snow, and we'll probably need more rain in order to bring the water tables up."
He says frosts can come as late as middle to late May, so even though you may not want to start planting yet, it's a good idea to start raking, cleaning, and aerating your lawn and garden.
