Reflections of a Journey Cancer Support Group

Aspirus Regional Cancer Center Conference Room
Aspirus Regional Cancer Center offers a monthly series of free support groups for cancer patients and caregivers called Reflections of a Journey.

The support group meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center conference room from 6-7:30 p.m. Each monthly session features a different topic. An informational session runs from 6-7 p.m. with time for discussion to follow.

The next session of the support group meets on Sept. 9, and will focus on the topic of Looking ahead: The future of Cancer Treatment. This topic will be presented by Christopher Peterson, M.D., oncologist at Aspirus Regional Cancer Center.

These cancer support groups will meet each month through May. For more information on upcoming sessions, go online to aspirus.org/cancercenter and select “Support for Patients & Families.”

PREGNANCY, NEWBORN GRIEF GROUP

In Our Hearts Forever, a grief support group for those who have experienced a pregnancy loss, stillbirth or newborn death, will meet Tuesday, June 3, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Riverview Medical Center’s lower level conference center.

In Our Hearts Forever offers support during a difficult time. The group consists of people who have suffered the same losses and wish to encourage and comfort one another.

During meetings, attendees share the physical, emotional and spiritual struggles felt during the loss of a child. There is no pressure to participate in the discussion. The privacy of all attendees is respected. The support group has no religious affiliation, however religious beliefs and values may be discussed.

In Our Hearts Forever meets the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Riverview Medical Center’s lower level conference center. New members and support persons are always welcome; but the group asks that no children attend. No fee or registration is required. If you live in the Wausau/Marathon County, or in any neighboring communities, and you or your family member has suffered the death of a child, The Compassionate Friends is here to help you, while also providing support for the entire family. We have FREE, monthly, face-to-face meetings that provide a safe place to listen to other's grief experiences, or share your own. Talking and attendance is not mandatory.
When you call our Chapter Leader, we will be happy to put together a free, customized packet of bereavement materials for you.
