The town of Grant Sesquicentennial Celebration is full of fun for everyone!

Friday is a Celebration of Education with a meal and social for former students of the area’s one room school houses at 3 pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner. Later that evening everyone is invited to attend a dance at the Wild Horse Saloon.

Saturday is a CELEBRATE LIFE AND WORK! Historical items will be displayed inside the town hall (9011 Highway WW) and the adjacent field from 9 am-3 pm. A craft sale and flea market will also be held from 9 am-3 pm in the field across the road from the town hall. You will find many things to do in the downtown Kellner area. A farmer’s market will take place from 8:00 am-noon. Activities for the kids will take place throughout the day and on Sunday. Bingo will take place on Saturday from 1-6 pm and a Baggo tournament from 1-5:30 pm. LIVE music starts at 1 pm on Saturday and continues throughout the evening. More music takes place on Sunday with a live band downtown and a “Singsiration” at the Kellner Moravian Church at 1:30 pm. A CELEBRATION OF FOOD AND FUN takes place on both Saturday and Sunday. Food is available downtown Kellner. A bake sale will take place at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday from 8-10 am. A Bake-Off Contest will take place at the Kellner Moravian Church with judging at 2:15 pm. The fun will include a PARADE through downtown Kellner on Sunday starting at noon. Jazz in the Gardens

Fischer Family Jazz is made of Geoffrey Fischer on bass, Lucas Fischer on drums, Amanda Fischer on reeds, and Michael Fischer on piano. The ensemble plays a wide variety of jazz music ranging from the energetic and Latin rhythms of Chick Corea and Michel Camillo to the familiar traditional swing music of Duke Ellington, and Count Basie. The afternoon will feature diverse styles to create a festive and fun atmosphere--a joyful, yet relaxed way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Geoffrey is a sophomore music and computer double-major at UWSP. Amanda is a senior and Lucas is a sophomore at Wausau West High School. Michael is a local pastor who has performed around the country with jazz and Gospel music groups. He has several solo recordings of his own and has recorded with a number of others, most recently on a Spring 2014 release by the ACME Jazz Company, a big band based in Minneapolis, MN.

Highways 13 and 64 in Medford, WI
Join us on Thursday, July 24th to kick off the Taylor County Fair at 5pm! Setup for Cans for a Cause will be from 10am-5pm with judging that evening. Wristband rides run from 5pm-9pm, and the 5K Poker Run kicks off at 6pm. Little Texas is taking the Grandstand at 7pm. Tickets at the door are just $15 and $25 for VIP. Stick around afterwards for entertainment by returning Medford natives in Driveway Thrift Dwellers.

Friday our day at the Taylor County Fair starts with exhibits judging in all non-animal areas! The afternoon will begin with the K99/WIGM Dairy Dessert contest at 1pm and Kiwanis Bingo running from 1pm to close. Friday night hosts the MASS auction and NTPA Tractor Pull in the Grandstands. Tickets are just $15 with kids ages 10 and under free. After the pulls, stick around for entertainment by Medford natives in Phil Marshall Band.

On Saturday the Taylor County Fair starts with the Candidate forum from 10am to noon. We're bringing back Kiwanis Bingo from 1pm to close and the Hypnotist will be back at 1 and 4pm in the Entertainment Tent. The Little Britches show starts at 3pm and the MASS Participant Auction at 4pm. At 6pm, come see the Taylor County Truck Pull in the Grandstands. Tickets are just $12 and kids under age 10 are free. Stay after the pull for returning Medford natives in Joe.e Band in the Entertainment Tent.

Sunday brings Taylor County Fair's Community Competition Day! See all the Grandstand events for a $5 wristband good all day. Agriculture Olympics start at 11am, Water Wars run noon to 2pm. The Talent Show (win a trip to the state fair) goes from 2-5pm, and up to six groups of artists will compete in Battle of the Bands from 5-7pm, accompanied by half-price beer. Wristband rides are back for $15 from 1-5pm. Kiwanis Bingo starts at 1pm, and there are assorted kids events throughout the grounds during the day.

Levi Hoppenworth, is the 4 ½ year old son of Adam Hoppenworth and Erin Pestka (also part of the Betzner and Wielock families) who sustained severe head trauma in May 2012 due to an accident. He is in need of ongoing care and has been hospitalized multiple times over the past two years.

Angels of Miracles along with family, friends and loved ones are hosting the 3rd Annual Benefit for Levi the weekend of August 8-10, 2014 at the Marathon City Sports Center, 1200 Hwy 107 in Marathon, WI in a continued effort to add to Levi's trust fund.

We will be holding a Softball and Volleyball Tournaments, Monster Home Run Derby, Beer Drinking Trophies, Dunk Tank, Bouncy House, Musical Entertainment and Refreshments. There will also be 50/50 Raffles, Bucket Raffles and a Bat Raffle.

Ride is going to Wild Cat Mountains. Ride is leaving at 11:00am and should return to town hall 5/6pm. Please come support a local first responder group help raise money to purchase new supply to help better the community as the health field is always improving with technology. Running with Scissors is a band out of Madison, Wisconsin. They play a mix of music.

Taste of the Town

Taste of the Town is a fundraiser that benefits one to one youth mentoring. This event includes tastes of food and drink from area businesses. The food is served from 5-7:30pm. Includes a Chef Demonstration along with a live auction, champagne raffle and live music. Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door. The KIDS from Wisconsin are returning to Edgar on Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 7:00pm. While new to some people from Edgar when they visited us last August, the KIDS were organized in 1969 and have traveled the State each summer performing at many fairs, conventions and festivals. Annually these talented, young people from across Wisconsin audition for this popular group. The concert theme may change each year but the singing and dancing skills remain incredible. Tickets are $20 each. Reserved seating is again available through www.brownpapertickets.com; search Edgar or KIDS from Wisconsin. Depending on advanced sales, remaining seats for general admission tickets may be available but a sellout crowd is expected.
