Pumpkin and Gourd Decorating

Make a Difference Day at the Library

Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters, located at 300 N. First St., Wausau, and the Rothschild Branch, located at 211 North Grand Avenue, Rothschild
Marathon County Public Library will partner with the Wausau Daily Herald and The Gannett Foundation for Make a Difference Day on October 25, starting at 10:00 a.m. Make a Difference Day will take place at two Marathon County Public Library locations: the Wausau Headquarters, and the Rothschild Branch.
Wausau Daily Herald employees will read to children at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. After the readings, free books will be distributed to children ages six and under. This activity is free and open to the public.

Affordable Care Act

Rhinelander District Library
Federally and state-certified Certified Application Counselors (CACs) from Bridge Community Health Clinic will present the most up-to-date information about the Health Insurance Marketplace and what consumers need to know in order to enroll in affordable health insurance. Following the presentation, the CACs will be available to answer questions about the enrollment process.

The 2015 open enrollment period begins on November 15, 2014 and will end on February 15, 2015. During this time, consumers will be able to enroll in a plan on the Marketplace for coverage year 2015. Individuals without health insurance for 2015 will be subject to a penalty of 2% of their household income or $325, whichever is greater.

Six Spooky Words Contest

Can you write a scary story in just six spooky words? For the Halloween season, the Marathon County Public Library will run a contest for patrons and other community members to submit a six-word horror story. The library will accept entries from October 1 through Oct. 26. The winning entries will be shared with the public via a poster in the library and through social media. Entries can be submitted on paper at any Marathon County Public Library location, or online by emailing spooky@mcpl.us. The winning entrants will have their choice of several MCPL prizes.

Knit Night Event

Knitters of all ages and skill levels are invited to Knit Night on the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Marathon County Public Library Wausau Headquarters, 300 N. First St., Wausau. The library will provide pattern books and some knitting supplies, but participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies.

The first Knit Night will occur on September 4 and recurs monthly on the first Thursday until December 4.
