The Hannah Center Giving for Life Banquet and Auction

Oct 9, 2014 5:30pm

Hotel Marshfield, 2700 S Central Ave, Marshfield, WI 54449
The Hannah Center Hosts Annual Giving for Life Event at Hotel Marshfield

On October 9th, The Hannah Center will host their annual Giving for Life Banquet and Auction at Hotel Marshfield. The theme of the evening is “There is No Place Like Home” and will include elements from the classic movie, The Wizard of Oz.

The organization’s mission has expanded to include all women in crisis and as the center’s services expand, The Hannah Center hopes to encourage greater involvement and support from surrounding communities in Marathon, Wood, and Portage counties. “This event will be a great way for the community to come together to show their support for the women and children The Hannah Center serves,” said Program Coordinator, Tricia Fancher. “It is amazing what great change that can provoke within a woman’s heart when she sees she has the community behind her for support.”

The silent auction will begin at 5:30pm, with the banquet following at 6:30pm. Local author and speaker, Cynthia Ruchti, will be hosting the evening. The guest speaker will be Chet McDoniel, an inspirational speaker who was born with no arms and shortened legs. Despite the odds, Chet has overcome many challenges and shares a message of hope and the value of life.

"This year The Hannah Center is looking to fundraise $30,000 through our annual Giving for Life Banquet & Silent Auction,” said President of The Hannah Center’s Board of Directors, Aimee Tippen. “We are currently looking for event and table sponsors, who share a heart and commitment to assist women and their children in crisis, to partner with us for this event.” All proceeds from the event will directly benefit The Hannah Center in their mission to assist women in crisis through compassion and guidance in a nurturing environment.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online at or at the following locations in Marshfield: Arby’s, Biggby Coffee, Janet’s Yarn, and Pioneer Bank.

About The Hannah Center:
The Hannah Center has been assisting women in crisis through compassion and guidance in a nurturing environment since 1993. They are committed to preserving life, providing a home, and promoting change.

On March 1st, 2014, a few days after Dad was given the “OK” to return to work following emergency brain surgery, an accident at home injured three year old Logan and two year old Lauren. Logan was treated and cleared that same evening but Lauren was air lifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital where she remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for 6 days, fighting for life. She sustained multiple skull fractures that have affected the hearing in her left ear, the nerves that control the left side of her face, and her left eye. She was moved to the Pediatric floor on March 6th, where she battled repeated fevers and struggled with everyday tasks such as eating and playing. She was later diagnosed with post-traumatic Meningitis and was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee on March 19th. On March 29th Lauren was released and finally able to come home. She will need multiple surgeries and many doctor visits while healing. We are hopeful that the damaged muscles and nerves will heal. Lauren is truly a miracle child to have survived. She is known as the girl that is “Tougher than an Angel.”
Motorcycle Ride, Individual riders $15 or $25 with a passenger.
