Town of Grant Sesquicentennial Celebration

The town of Grant Sesquicentennial Celebration is full of fun for everyone!

Friday is a Celebration of Education with a meal and social for former students of the area’s one room school houses at 3 pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner. Later that evening everyone is invited to attend a dance at the Wild Horse Saloon.

Saturday is a CELEBRATE LIFE AND WORK! Historical items will be displayed inside the town hall (9011 Highway WW) and the adjacent field from 9 am-3 pm. A craft sale and flea market will also be held from 9 am-3 pm in the field across the road from the town hall. You will find many things to do in the downtown Kellner area. A farmer’s market will take place from 8:00 am-noon. Activities for the kids will take place throughout the day and on Sunday. Bingo will take place on Saturday from 1-6 pm and a Baggo tournament from 1-5:30 pm. LIVE music starts at 1 pm on Saturday and continues throughout the evening. More music takes place on Sunday with a live band downtown and a “Singsiration” at the Kellner Moravian Church at 1:30 pm. A CELEBRATION OF FOOD AND FUN takes place on both Saturday and Sunday. Food is available downtown Kellner. A bake sale will take place at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday from 8-10 am. A Bake-Off Contest will take place at the Kellner Moravian Church with judging at 2:15 pm. The fun will include a PARADE through downtown Kellner on Sunday starting at noon. Taylor County Fair, Medford, WI

Highways 13 and 64 in Medford, WI
Join us on Thursday, July 24th to kick off the Taylor County Fair at 5pm! Setup for Cans for a Cause will be from 10am-5pm with judging that evening. Wristband rides run from 5pm-9pm, and the 5K Poker Run kicks off at 6pm. Little Texas is taking the Grandstand at 7pm. Tickets at the door are just $15 and $25 for VIP. Stick around afterwards for entertainment by returning Medford natives in Driveway Thrift Dwellers.

Friday our day at the Taylor County Fair starts with exhibits judging in all non-animal areas! The afternoon will begin with the K99/WIGM Dairy Dessert contest at 1pm and Kiwanis Bingo running from 1pm to close. Friday night hosts the MASS auction and NTPA Tractor Pull in the Grandstands. Tickets are just $15 with kids ages 10 and under free. After the pulls, stick around for entertainment by Medford natives in Phil Marshall Band.

On Saturday the Taylor County Fair starts with the Candidate forum from 10am to noon. We're bringing back Kiwanis Bingo from 1pm to close and the Hypnotist will be back at 1 and 4pm in the Entertainment Tent. The Little Britches show starts at 3pm and the MASS Participant Auction at 4pm. At 6pm, come see the Taylor County Truck Pull in the Grandstands. Tickets are just $12 and kids under age 10 are free. Stay after the pull for returning Medford natives in Joe.e Band in the Entertainment Tent.

Sunday brings Taylor County Fair's Community Competition Day! See all the Grandstand events for a $5 wristband good all day. Agriculture Olympics start at 11am, Water Wars run noon to 2pm. The Talent Show (win a trip to the state fair) goes from 2-5pm, and up to six groups of artists will compete in Battle of the Bands from 5-7pm, accompanied by half-price beer. Wristband rides are back for $15 from 1-5pm. Kiwanis Bingo starts at 1pm, and there are assorted kids events throughout the grounds during the day.

Run to Remember

The Nicolet College Foundation will hold the Second Annual Run to Remember and Family Fun Day Saturday, Sept 20th, to raise money for scholarships in honor of Kory Dahlvig, a Nicolet graduate and former Vilas County sheriff’s deputy who lost his life in an on-duty traffic accident.
The event on the Nicolet College Campus will feature a 5K run/walk with participants lining up at 9:45 a.m. and the race beginning at 10 a.m. The line-up for the half-mile children’s event will take place at 10:45 a.m. and start at 11 a.m. We will also have free family activities during and after the 5K.
Registration fee for the 5K is $25 before September 6th and $30 after that date. The children’s run/walk is free.

It’s family friendly yet tough enough for the hard-core competitors. Ages 5-85 typically participate. The Lil' Buckshot race is geared toward those who cannot participate in the larger 2 and 5 Mile race on Saturday, August 30, or for those who want to do both days.
Registration and check in for the Wednesday night event begins at 5:30 and the race starts at 6pm. Concessions, music and an awards ceremony will follow.
100% of money raised from the race stays locally to help 1,000 Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities train and compete in sports year-round. It’s a life changing opportunity for these kids and adults.

Get ready to Kolor your world and change a child's life!! Registration will be open March 24th for the 3rd Annual Kolor for Kids FunFest, sponsored by Element Mobile benefiting Children’s Miracle Network. This colorful event will feature a day full of fun for all ages.

Kolor for Kids FunFest will be held at the Grand Rapids Lions Club on Saturday August 23, 2014. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 10 a.m. Participants will start wearing white and end sprinkled in an array of fabulous colored cornstarch powder.
