The fourth and final session of the Merrill Community Forum Series will occur on June 13. The session is called “Importance of Broadband in Community & Economic Development.” The primary speakers for this very special event include Professor Andy Lewis and Executive Director Maria Alvarez-Stroud of the University of Wisconsin-Extension Center for Community Technology Solutions. This highly interactive session will feature an assessment of broadband access in Lincoln County and the surrounding area, best practice case studies (e.g. Minocqua, Chippewa Valley, etc.) on how to advocate for and acquire greater broadband access at the local level, information about resources to help acquire more broadband, and discussion about how broadband helps communities become more vital. There will also be planning related to how Lincoln County can increase both its residential and commercial access to high speed internet.
